‘Show Me A Miracle’ is the second single off of Klaxon’s imminent third album Love Frequency. After the forgettable second album Surfing The Void, released in 2010, which was panned by critics and fans alike after years of studio turmoil in which Polydor requested that large swathes of the album be re-recorded as it was “too experimental”. Klaxons returned earlier this year with Gorgan City produced ‘There’s No Other Time’ which was received well and gained ample play time on UK radio, they have returned stylistically to a sound similar to Myths Of The Near Future.
It is obvious Klaxons want to recapture some of the magic of their first album, the rhetoric on their Facebook and Twitter pages seems to completely ignore the aforementioned second album with nostalgic posts reminding fans of why they were once so great with links to remixes of first album tracks by Crystal Castles, Kavinsky and Justice.
Sadly I feel Klaxons may never return to the greatness they once held, their style is no longer ground breaking, nu-rave is now old-rave and as a known band they are unlikely to cause any hype or create a new grass-roots following despite of how good their new material proves to be.
‘Show Me A Miracle’ is undoubtedly a great track, it has a big bassline and the vocals over the top are undoubtedly Klaxons, perhaps the Miracly they sing about is the return of Klaxons, and maybe just maybe,t might just happen…
