Louis Kevin Celestin a.k.a Kaytranada’s production can often be hit and miss. ‘Leave Me Alone’, a sun-kissed number that leans itself to house tendencies reasserts Kaytranada’s underground credentials for pop music.
Shay Lia’s vocals are interesting indeed, pitting an infectious and grin-inducing scat alongside a moody musical backing with off-kilter pads and constricted toms. It somehow works but it’s the succinct instrumentals that shine through for me and envelops Louis’ common hip-hop proclivity into a somewhat uncustomary 4×4 cut.
