‘So Good’ is the latest pop trinket to fall off the impressive Nao assembly line – this time with the help of A. K. Paul. Though mechanised to a point beyond natural recognition, Nao’s falsetto slips between tender and urgent offering something far more superior than the usual R&B drivel. The instrumental, though soaked in reverb, is airy and caressed at times by soft-rock guitars driven by a beat so slant it feels like a thermal updraft.
With it being only the second record from Nao, the first equally as marvellous – there’s promise for her to reach the kind of notoriety ZHU has recently achieved.
