If you haven’t yet come across Leftwing & Kody, it’s safe to assume that you’re missing out on the bass driven, low synth swinging hustle and bustle that the duo have to offer. Having only released their first EP in mid- 2012 with Bump & Flex, their records have fast become requisite DJ tools.
Seemingly effortless yet unequivocally accessible, “I Know” is a typical house cut that transpires with a menacing, jacking groove and a distorted pattern of bass synths that are fashioned with a bout of efficacy but, inherently displays an unwonted degree of dissonance. The sonorous male vocals command the record throughout, however, they unreservedly fall victim to the trending and to be honest, decrepit use of a pitched down vocal. Nevertheless, “I Know” provides us with a beefy low-end record that excites our willingness to be playful.
Similarly muscular, “It Was Our”, is drowned in tangled, intrinsic melodies and a prolonged, hollow bass that entices us into a breakdown that harmonises all of its components with panache. In contrast with the indelible vocal euphony of “I Know”, “It Was Our” features insipid vocals leaving us awkwardly disparate in mood and is also, at times, slightly off-key.
